UK, US, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and more are witnessing Lufthansa’s triumphant return to the Munich-Riyadh route after an eight-year hiatus. This highly anticipated relaunch revitalizes a crucial air connection, bolstering global travel networks and business ties while reflecting the airline’s dedication to expanding international connectivity across these key markets.
Starting from October 26, 2025, Lufthansa (LH) will resume its nonstop service between Munich Airport (MUC) and Riyadh (RUH), the bustling capital of Saudi Arabia. This relaunch celebrates 65 years of Lufthansa’s aviation relationship with the Kingdom.
The Munich–Riyadh flights will operate three times weekly. Flight LH640 takes off from Munich at 9:45 PM and lands in Riyadh at 4:50 AM local time the following day. The return journey departs Riyadh at 6:25 AM, arriving back in Munich by 10:25 AM. This schedule is designed to facilitate smooth connections through Munich’s extensive hub, linking passengers conveniently to destinations across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
The route will be served by the modern Airbus A350-900, featuring 293 seats distributed across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins. After an eight-year break, Lufthansa’s return to this route strengthens its footprint in the Middle East.
In collaboration with Eurowings (EW) and ITA Airways (AZ), the Lufthansa Group plans to operate a total of 22 weekly flights serving Saudi Arabia’s major destinations: Riyadh, Dammam (DMM), and Jeddah (JED). Across the wider Middle East, the group operates over 120 weekly flights, underscoring its commitment to robust connectivity between Europe and the region.
The Airbus A350-900 is one of the most technologically advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft in service today. It offers passengers reduced cabin noise, enhanced air quality, and spacious interiors designed for comfort across all travel classes.
